Overcoming the demon discouragement

Slightly more than one year ago, I hit the wall. Tireless efforts to generate daily posts for five personal blogs, while writing and publishing three e-books on three major e-book publishing sites during the first five months of last year, exhausted me to the point that, when I saw no appreciable positive reaction to my work, I shut down.

I closed down all my blogs, and took a one-year sabbatical from e-book writing and publishing, taking on other daily, home-centered, non-writing projects to fill my days of retirement.

Still, I missed my perceived calling to write about that which I loved most: the truths of the Roman Catholic Faith, which I had studied for so many years; however, there were many obstacles to success. Relatively few e-book readers are buying books about the nature and perfection of God, or Jesus Christ’s teachings on how to live our lives, or reflections on lessons  learned from events in the life of Christ. This creates significant marketing problems, trying to isolate the Catholic reader micro-market in a digital universe where fiction genres are king.

In spite of all this, the Holy Spirit compels me  to answer the call once more. This time, with a sequel to my third e-book, the one about the nature and perfection of God. This one will delve deeper into God’s inner life, the infinite life and love of the Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I could not have chosen a more daunting subject; but I’m convinced that God’s Holy Spirit will guide me through it to a successful conclusion.

Meanwhile, e-book publishing has not stood still while I wallowed in self-pity. I face the challenges of updating myself on the new publishing methods as well.

All of this, of course, will become grist for my future posts. I hope that you’ll tune in from time to time, and let me know if I’m on track.

For now, I am eternally grateful for your support in bringing me back to this point.
